Giving back to the community
Cosanga Eagle Scout Project
For my Eagle Scout project, I partnered with Sustainable Roots in Cosanga, Ecuador to build a gazebo through fundraising. The goal was to increase tourism and provide a meeting place for the community despite frequent rain. I spent 8 days leading a team of 10 in construction. I achieved Eagle Scout that same year, and the community has held various meetings at the gazebo since. Through this experience I gained leadership skills I continue to use today.
CosangaAylluBot Ecuador Project
Near the end of my junior year of high school I teamed up with my FRC robotics team for a service project in Ecuador focused on STEM outreach and starting robotics teams. We spent July in Ecuador; memorable work included restoring an orphanage playground in Quito. Outcomes included 9 teams started in one month, 2,500 hours of service, communication with 20 academic administrations, and impact on 300 children.
